There is a bend in the Li River near Xingping that is printed on the back of the 20-yuan note. It fills with boats by mid-morning, so I hired a raft for first light and had the water mostly to myself apart from a few fishermen.
The karst hills here stack up behind each other and the morning mist sorts them into layers. It does most of the work. I just needed the raft to hold still long enough.
I bought a 20-yuan note afterwards and held it up against the hills. It matches.
