Paria Bay is on Trinidad's north coast and there is no road to it. You park at the end of the Blanchisseuse road and walk. It took me a little over two hours each way, through forest and across a few river mouths, with the trail muddy in long sections.
The beach at the end is wide and usually empty. There is a waterfall a short walk inland, and leatherback turtles nest here in season. I had the place to myself for most of the afternoon.
The walk back in the heat was the hard part. I have done it twice now and both times told myself that was the last one. It will not be.
